The boys homecoming basketball game against Albert Einstein Academy topped off a whole day of special Pacifica activities and games. The Pacifica community was celebrating 10 years of success and innovation, which Included an In-N-Out truck outside the gym to serve burgers and drinks to hungry fans.
Over a thousand Pacifica students, alumni and parents were packed into the Culver City gym for what ended up being an exciting game that went down to the wire. It was a sea of blue and green shirts, pompoms and posters. As the game began, the crowd cheered on the Seawolves. The boys took an early lead, but AEA started to heat up from the perimeter and took a 9 point lead over Pacifica at the half. During the break in the action, the cheerleaders took the floor and did a dance routine while others went to grab some In-N-Out
The second half started and Pacifica was battling to regain the lead. The Seawolves cut into the lead during the 3rd quarter, making it a close game at the start of the 4th. As the game got deep into the 4th, the crowd was on the edge of their seats in anticipation. Pacifica now clung to a one point lead with just over a minute left. Pacifica got a stop on the defensive end and was fouled. After freshman Luca Gaudio missed the second free throw, AEA threw up a prayer from half court and it was not answered, which resulted in an amazing Seawolf victory.
Everyone rushed onto the court in celebration. Mr. Kelsey prayed for the school and was then doused with water bottles along with the basketball coach, a homecoming tradition. This Homecoming was a great event and will be long remembered for Pacifica’s 10th anniversary. Congratulations Pacifica!
