Located at the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and Butler, a restaurant by the name of Javan greets you. As you enter the building, a nice green Arabic sign sits on top of the building. The most noticeable and greatest thing is the layout. Javan is filled with rows and rows of seats, one of the greatest things for business. On the far wall a bar stretches from one end to the other.
Before taking the first step you are greeted by the friendly staff and seated almost immediately. Once given the menu, you are almost lost in the many choices. The menu is composed of Classic Persian mixed with Iranian food. To begin our meal, we ordered the hummus, probably the most popular middle eastern starters. For my entree, I ordered the Koobidah Kebab – an almost perfect alternative to people who don’t enjoy lamb. The kebab is composed of open fire grilled beef with a side of Basmati rice. However, I would also recommend the Javan Kebab, a delicious meal for meat lovers and someone in the mood for something simple. The rice was delicious and the meat was perfectly cooked. Their meals are simple, but complex in the ingredients. It is not overwhelmingly spicy or bland. Overall, it was the best Persian food I have ever eaten.
As the meal came to a close, I didn’t have any room to try the dessert so I can’t comment on it. My overall experience of the restaurant is top-notch. The restaurant has good vibes and is a good starter for people unfamiliar with Persian cuisine. This place is one to remember. After the first time, you are hooked and can’t wait to come back. Javan is located at 11500 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025.
